Where Modern Elegance Meets Timeless Comfort
Back in 2008, our founder Sarah Dravion walked past this historic building on West Georgia and knew something special could happen here. It wasn't just about opening another hotel – she wanted to create a space where every corner told a story through handcrafted details and thoughtful design.
We spent two years working with local artisans, master carpenters, and designers who actually cared about the small stuff. You'll notice it in the hand-turned railings, the custom metalwork that frames each window, and even the tiles in the bathrooms – everything's got a person behind it, not a factory line.
What started as a 48-room boutique spot has grown into something we're pretty proud of. We've added the spa, upgraded the dining experience, and kept tweaking things based on what guests actually tell us they want. But we've never lost that original vision of making something that feels personal, not corporate.

Guest Satisfaction
We're a bit obsessed with the details, honestly. When we say artisan craftsmanship, we mean you can run your hand along a door frame and feel the difference. Our furniture isn't pulled from some catalog – it's designed specifically for each space by craftspeople who've been doing this for decades.
The metalwork throughout the building? That's all from a family workshop in Burnaby. The textiles in the rooms come from a weaver in Quebec who uses traditional techniques you don't see much anymore. Even our bathroom fixtures are custom-cast bronze with a patina that develops character over time.
It costs more and takes longer this way, sure. But when guests tell us they can feel the difference the moment they walk in, that's when we know it's worth it. There's something about being surrounded by things made with actual human hands that just hits different.
